What to Expect During a Visit
Arrival & Introduction
Your nurse will arrive within the scheduled window, introduce themselves, and confirm the purpose of the visit. We always carry identification and are happy to show credentials.
Assessment & Care
We'll complete the clinical tasks for your visit — whether that's a blood draw, medication review, vitals check, or education session. We work at your pace and welcome questions throughout.
Documentation
After care is complete, we document findings and any recommendations. With your consent, we'll share a summary with your primary care provider or specialist.
Follow-Up
We'll discuss next steps before we leave — whether that's scheduling a follow-up visit, coordinating with your care team, or simply answering any remaining questions.
Preparing for Your Visit
A little preparation goes a long way. Here's how to get ready for your first — or any — home nursing visit.
Your First Visit
- Confirm your appointment time and have a phone number ready in case of any changes.
- Have a current list of all medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
- Gather any recent lab results, discharge paperwork, or physician notes you'd like us to review.
- Make sure there's a clear, comfortable space for the nurse to work — a kitchen table or living room chair works well.
- Have your insurance card and a photo ID available if needed for documentation.
Preparing for a Blood Draw
- Follow any fasting instructions from your physician (typically 8–12 hours for fasting panels).
- Drink plenty of water before your appointment — good hydration makes veins easier to access.
- Wear a short-sleeved or loose-fitting top for easy arm access.
- Let us know about any previous difficulties with blood draws so we can plan accordingly.
- Have your lab order or physician's instructions ready if you received one.
Medication Review Preparation
- Gather all prescription bottles, blister packs, and over-the-counter medications in one place.
- Include vitamins, herbal supplements, and any patches or topical medications.
- Note any medications you've recently stopped taking and why.
- Write down any side effects or concerns you've noticed.
- Have your pharmacy's contact information available in case we need to coordinate a refill.
